CLASSES & WORKSHOPS
A facilitated playgroup for children ages 0-9 months, this class provides a comfortable space for parents and caregivers to connect, learn about their child's development, and ask questions. Children will enjoy socializing with peers, practicing new skills, and exploring new experiences with their loved one.
A facilitated playgroup for children ages 9-18 months, this class provides an opportunity for the parent (or caregiver) and child to connect while exploring fun activities geared specifically toward language and play milestones. The relaxed environment of the class allows parents/caregivers to connect, as well as seek guidance and advice from the instructor.
This 60-min class helps children ages 18months-3 years prepare for classroom routines, gain independence, and learn to participate in a group. Each theme-based class will include a variety of activities including circle time, art projects, pretend play, music, and light snack.
3-5 year olds will enjoy an hour of fun and learning as they explore a new theme in each class, through books, art, sensory activities, science experiments, movement activities and pretend play. (60 min/Drop off/Must be potty trained)
Baby and the Beat
A class for babies 0-18 months and their caregivers. Musical focus will include baby-and-me bonding songs, building a rhythmic and melodic foundation, instrument exploration, singing familiar and new songs, and fostering an early love of music.
A class for toddlers 18 months - 3 years and their caregivers. Musical focus will include developing sense of rhythm and pitch, instrument exploration, movement, music as a social experience, singing familiar and new songs, and fostering an early love of music.
This drop off class for 3 - 5 year olds will be a 6-week session culminating in a mini-performance. Music and activities will center around a theme and incorporate singing, instruments, movement, art, and developmentally appropriate music theory concepts which may transfer when a child is ready to learn an instrument privately.
Get into the weekend groove! This sing-along will have a variety of songs to appeal to the whole family. Get ready to sing, dance, and play along!
Calling all soon-to-be parents! This class will cover a range of topics from end of pregnancy through the immediate postpartum period. Themes include preparation and expectation for a hospital birth; signs of labor; stages of labor; pain medication options (including epidurals); managing contractions; and possible interventions in labor including inductions, monitoring and cesarean sections. Class concludes with postpartum concerns and resources to help when the baby arrives.
Infant & Child CPR
A 1 hour overview class of the American Heart Association Friends & Family Infant/Child CPR and choking. Class includes demonstration and hands on practice on infant CPR dolls of both CPR and choking techniques. A must have class for all parents, nannies, au pairs, grandparents and caregivers.
Two Hearts (Prenatal) Yoga
Connect with your growing baby, learn breathing and meditation techniques to help you through labor, and move your body to support a healthy pregnancy. In this one hour class, you'll work up a sweat and get time to rest and decompress.
Wholehearted (Postnatal) Yoga
In this one hour class, you'll rebuild your body and strength, plus learn powerful techniques to help you find calm and destress. We'll take a whole body approach to your postnatal plan, strengthening the abs, hips, and legs while you stretch your back and shoulders. These progressive movements will help build a stronger you from the inside out, plus give you time to rest, breathe, and be still. Babies 6 weeks up to crawling are welcome!
Intro to Ayurveda
Come explore the fascinating science and art of Ayurveda, the ancient Indian system of healing and medicine. Ayurveda uses personalized diet, exercise, meditation, and daily routines as prescriptions for health and balance. In this interactive workshop, you'll discover your unique body/mind archetype (dosha) and learn the particular practices that will bring you into balance daily and seasonally. You’ll leave feeling empowered to take control of your health and daily routine, and excited to put simple habits into practice.
Potty Training 101
The right techniques and guidance can help make the potty training process less frustrating, daunting, and stressful. This 1.5-hour workshop will cover a range of topics including timing of potty training, using positive reinforcement, and things to consider before beginning potty training.
Ace the School Drop-off: Addressing Separation Anxiety & the Transition to School
Despite the excitement, the transition to preschool often comes with lots of emotions - for both the parent and the child. Nook’s resident parent coach will share insights and practical tips to help make the transition to school smooth and comfortable for both you and your child. Advice and strategies to help prepare your child for school, guidelines on how to discuss the transition with your child, and tips on dealing with emotional drop-offs and school resistance will be discussed.
Mini Lingo: Workshop for Bilingual Families
Ever wonder what the benefits are for children who learn multiple languages? Will children who come from a bilingual household take longer to talk? And how do they even know what language to use? Come find out the answers to these, and other, questions with bilingual and bicultural Developmental Specialist, Barbara Grant. We will be starting off with some fun activities in Spanish, including books and singing, with the children, then have time for parents to learn more and ask their questions about raising children as dual language learners.
