MEET OUR INSTRUCTORS
Elizabeth is an Early Childhood Specialist with degrees in both speech-language pathology and developmental psychology. She currently works in private practice, where she specializes in speech, language, feeding and developmental delays, and disorders. Elizabeth's diverse background and clinical experience with infants, toddlers, and preschool aged children allows her to provide holistic, practical guidance to the families that she works with. Elizabeth is a North Arlington native, and proud mother of a preschooler herself. She loves being a part of the Nook community, and looks forward to working with your child!
Sarah is a board certified music therapist (MT-BC) with a decade of experience with diverse populations, ages, and settings. As a therapist, she takes a humanistic approach, meeting clients where they are and using music to engage, motivate and address areas of need. She uses her skills as a therapist and developmental knowledge to inform her work with early childhood music groups. In caregiver/child groups, she ensures that the adults are also engaged and enjoying themselves, as this is crucial for modeling a relationship to music. Sarah is also a cellist, a mom to two boys, and a third-generation Arlingtonian.
Samantha is founder of Happy Healthy Human, an integrative wellness practice based in DC. Sam is an Ayurvedic coach, yoga instructor, and birth/postpartum doula. She helps her clients find more balance, bliss, and confidence by combining cutting edge science, ancient wisdom, and practical tools. Barbara is the Founder and Developmental Specialist at Nudge and Cradle. She has over ten years of experience working with young children and families in the DMV area, with specializations in infant mental health, early intervention, and working with children with visual impairments. Barbara grew up in a bilingual and bicultural household, and is dedicated to amplifying the voices of families and children with different cultural backgrounds. She is passionate about helping young children learn through the context of positive relationships, and is here to help caregivers grow more confident and competent in helping their children (and themselves!) thrive.
Elizabeth is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in child development, child behavior, and working with children and families. She has been working in the field of child mental health for over 10 years and has experience working in community settings, schools, clinics, and hospitals. She provides training and education to students and professionals in a variety of settings and has presented at national and international conferences. She has also published articles and book chapters on child development and has been interviewed by magazines and radio programs regarding her expertise in child development and behavior. Elizabeth is the founder and lead parent coach of Personalized Parenting, LLC, an inclusive and evidence-based parent coaching practice. Elizabeth is also a Northern Virginia native, and a mother.
Stork Childbirth Education
Stork Childbirth Education founders, Lauren and Flynn, have worked together in private practice for over five years. Prior to that they were both labor and delivery nurses at Sibley Memorial Hospital helping to deliver the newest babies of Washington, D.C. With the help of Stork Childbirth Education classes, you can navigate pregnancy, postpartum and your newborn’s first few weeks comfortably and feel empowered with evidence-based prenatal education to help you embrace parenthood. Flynn is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner in the Washington D.C. area. Lauren is a Certified Nurse Midwife and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner licensed in Washington D.C. and Maryland. They are currently in private practice at Bloom OB/GYN.
